I'm Rich Dean, a creative designer specialising in digital media with 12 years experience. I work as Head of design for London digital agency Zone, where we produce digital goodness for some of the best brands in the world.

I got my first gig as a designer in the summer of 2000, but as a child art was my favourite subject and I was good at drawing. Growing up, I loved using Deluxe Paint 3 on the Amiga. Nowadays, Photoshop is my weapon of choice, but I'm just as at home in Flash, Illustrator, DreamWeaver and InDesign. The work I do is quite broad, from website design to mobile apps, social media marketing, Flash animation to interface design, I'll try my hand at anything.

Design is pretty much my life. When I'm not designing, I'm reading about it or looking at other peoples. I love it. It's the best career anyone could choose, and I've met some great people along the way. I've also been fortunate to work for some fantastic clients too, a few of which are featured below.

Relentless Energy Drink

Freeze Festival QR code poster

As part of a promotion at Freeze Festival, I designed this intricately detailed QR code poster, where visitors to the Festival scanned the code on their mobile device to either get a free can of Relentless Energy Drink, or win VIP access.

The Pepperhood

The Pepperhood was a fun and engaging online fraternity, where members played games for a chance to win great prizes. As well as producing the initial Pepperhood brand, I was also responsible for setting the overall site look and feel, as well as producing core templates and overseeing additional design production.

VistaJet

Website redesign

VistaJet is one of the world's leading providers of private chartered flights. As well as art directing and producing the winning pitch designs, I also lead the design in the early stages, before handing over to fellow Zoner Jack Cole to finalise and roll out. The concept was based around 'attention to detail', with full-bleed images highlighting the quality and craft of the experience.

Life's a Pitch

Zone is helping BT's Life's a Pitch website to quickly become one of the industry leaders in football news and opinion. I was responsible for setting the overall site look and feel and designing core templates.

The Collective Agency are a startup recruitment agency. I was approached to design their identity. The design is an abstract representation of components fitting together, with the focus on the 'C' and 'A'.

Radio Times

Website Redesign (Pitch)

Zone were invited to pitch for the redesign of the Radtio Times website. I lead the design of the proposed new site, which was based around a user's 'playlist' - a device that was constant throughout the site, where the user could drag and drop any TV programme or film onto their playlist and create their own unique schedule.

Kabeleins is one of Germany's leading TV channels. Zone was approached to produce work for an extended pitch to redesign their website. Working in a small agile team, I lead the design, producing the initial look and feel as well as core templates.

Veetee Rice are a leading manufacturer of microwave rice. As part two of a pitch to overhaul their digital presence, Zone proposed a campaign to emphasise how quickly the cooking time of their rice is, based on classic TV game shows. I lead the design and created the look and feel for the site.

Wembley Stadium

Website redesign (pitch)

Zone were invited to pitch for the redesign of Wembley Stadium's webiste, and as a big football fan, I was very excited to be involved. Wembley already had a very strong new identity, but our main task was to convey the location as more than just a football stadium by emphasising it's richness as an all-round entertainment venue. I lead the design and created the look and feel for the site.
